Lizzie Kanning - Principal w/Ballet Idaho

When I was doing some work for Ballet Idaho in the spring, I met Lizzie for a little behind the scenes photo campaign for their show. I was stoked to meet another one of Ballet Idahos principals. When we were waiting, Lizzie and I introduced ourselves to one another. She had said so you’re “Wes who’s been photographing a few of the other company dancers?” I replied, yup that’s me! She quickly responded and asked “so when are you going to ask me to do a photoshoot?” I chuckled and said whenever you’re free! We got a day down in the books before the company went back into full swing for their ‘26-’27 season.

I wanted to get some “safe” photographs that we both could be happy with, but towards the end of this photoshoot I told Lizzie, I really want to try and do some very, untraditional photographs but still in the realm of using dance/ballet.

These were all taken with my Pentax 6×7 using Kentmere 400 film. Rolls were developed with Adox Syrup 110 - Dilution B (1:31)
